07. SPC – Pareto Chart

Pareto Chart is used to identify root cause’s relative frequency or sample size, and plot them into descending bar graph. Pareto chart is generally used for the following purposes:

 

      • Focus on root cause with greatest impact if root cause is solved.
      • Use visual interpretation to display relative critical level of problems.
      • Measures progress and indicate potential improvement’s priority level.

 

The following example is listed for the Pareto chart of fully automated assembly machine’s root cause occurrence.

As observed, the top 3 priority are listed starting from the left till the right side. These 3 issues shall be the top issues which need to be addressed for improvement.
